...THE PLOT...
Imagine a world quite like our own. The continents are the same, the rivers and oceans are where they have always been, the same climates make you alternatively curse and rejoice. The terrain is the same as you can see on any land map. But there is something a little different about this earth that you stand on. The world is not how you remember it. Greek Fire and Gunpowder were never created. Steam is in its infancy, only harnessed in the last 20 years as an aid to human development. Weaponry does not exist in the same state that it exists in your world. There are no rifles, no machines guns, no hand grenades, no rocket launchers. Computers barely exist, and in vastly different forms to what you know. But what the humans did have, and in abundance, are animals. Animals are the weapons of this earth. Nations without rich fauna crumbled, while other nations rose strong and began to dominate the landscape. Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, all those are made up of live animals taking the place of machines or weapons. Many nations in your world that have strong militaries are weak and small here. While some weaponry may exist, like bow and arrows, swords or armor, they are very much in the minority.
This is the Age of Animals. Those who have the largest and strongest animals win.
